CLEANING
TIP#1: DIY NON-TOXIC CLEANER
Make all-purpose cleaner at home; mix two cups of white vinegar with equal parts water (plus a little essential oil, like tea tree or lavender, if you want a fragrance). To boost its cleaning power, warm it in the microwave.
TIP#2: DE-CLUTTER
De-clutter your home to make cleaning and dusting easier.
TIP#3: DIY FABRIC SOFTENER
Commercial fabric softener is toxic and makes the fabrics more flammable. Instead, I add 3 tablespoons of baking soda to the wash cycle. Vinegar is another non-toxic alternative to fabric softener; add 1/2 cup of white distilled vinegar to the rinse cycle.
TIP#4: TUMBLE NO MORE
Cut out the tumble dryer and hang on a drying rack. If you can, leave to dry outside in the fresh air for even quicker drying.
TIP#5: DUSTPAN AND BRUSH
Dig out the good ol' dustpan and brush instead of whacking out the vacuum for every crumb.
